2011-12 Season Pass : Plymouth Concerts


Cleveland-based chamber ensemble Les Délices' (pronounced Lay day-LEASE) third season promises to entertain and inspire. Sunday afternoon concerts are presented inside Plymouth Church's acoustically gorgeous Herr Chapel in Shaker Heights, where Les Délices is Artist in Residence. Sunday November 6, 2011 at 4pm The Age of Indulgence "The Age of Indulgence" recreates the opulent sound world of a 1750s Paris salon - including four works never before heard in Ohio. Works by F.A. Philidor, Mondonville, Dauvergne, and Rameau. Sunday January 29, 2012 at 4pm Caractères de la danse Simultaneously signaling power and grace, refinement and discipline, the art of dancing held a singular status at the court of Louis XIV. Works includes Rebel's "Characters of the Dance," earthy, rollicking dances of Boismortier's Ballets de Village, suites for oboe and viol by Hotteterre and Marais, plus the Muse of dance herself inspires Rebel's trio sonata La Terpsichore. May 13, 2012 at 4pm Games & Diversions Special guest soprano Ellen Hargis joins Les Délices for Games & Diversions ranging from innocent to licentious in this program inspired by gambling and gossip, and fueled by an obsession with chocolate, wine, and other exotic brews. Works by Charpentier, Bernier, Marais, Couperin, and more.
